New Hypertension Service
Some of our local Pharmacies have started to provide a New Hypertension service.
All patients over the age of 40 who have previously not been diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure) will be eligible for a free Blood pressure check if you have not had one in over 6 months.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the second most common cause of premature death in England, after cancer, affecting seven million people. One in four premature deaths are caused by CVD, and 1.6 million disability adjusted life years can be attributed to it.
High blood pressure significantly increases the risk of having a heart attack or stroke, but early detection and treatment can help people live longer, healthier lives.
If you have a high reading at the Pharmacy they may offer ambulatory Blood pressure monitoring or signpost you back to the Practice to have further investigations.
This is available at:
- Greenway Pharmacy Monday - Friday
- and at Day Lewis Pharmacy Monday - Thursday 2 - 4pm.
