Lung Health Checks Now Available in Your Area
Patients aged 55 to 74 who are current or former smokers are now eligible for the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme. This initiative aims to detect lung cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective, and outcomes are improved.
Eligible individuals will receive an invitation to participate in a lung health check.
In our region the Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon, and Gloucestershire (SWAG) Cancer Alliance is offering the Lung Cancer Screening Programme. This programme provides a chance to check your lung health, test how well your lungs are functioning, and offer advice and support around keeping your lungs healthy. Most of the time, no problems are found, but in a small number of cases, finding issues early can make treatment easier and more successful.
