Domperidone and breastfeeding
All Doctors at Greenway Community Practice have taken the unanimous decision not to prescribe domperidone to breastfeeding mothers, for the purpose of increasing milk supply.
Following the Department of Health’s advice on the prescription of domperidone in May 2014 and a discussion on the pros & cons of using domperidone off-label the Doctors feel the possible risks associated with the drug are greater than the risks to the mother and baby of not breastfeeding.
All other measures to improve breastfeeding management will be supported.
