Self Care Week 2019

Self Care Week is an annual national awareness week that focuses on providing support for self care across communities, families and generations. 18th – 22nd November was the week dedicated to promoting the benefits of self care and the different tools available to help empower patients with looking after their own health.

We had a very successful week here at Greenway with a partly manned stall in the waiting room with tonnes of information for our patients. The main focus was on Men’s Mental Health. This included posters, leaflets, handouts and PPG members ready and willing to talk about men’s mental health and self care tips. But we didn’t stop there! Instead of handing out chocolate or sweets, we thought it was best to hand out pieces of fruit (courtesy of TESCO’s) to encourage our patients with all things good for their health!

The more we educate our patients and others about the importance of self care, the more patients can feel empowered and comfortable with dealing with minor illness/injuries. Patients will also know where the best places to go are for certain things, saving everyone time and resources.

Make sure you check out our self care section of the website – it’s got lots of information and handy tips!

Think this is something you would like to get involved in next year? Join our PPG today! For more information visit – www.greenwaycommunitypractice.nhs.uk/about/patient-participation-group/
