What is Self Care?self care image

Self care is about looking after yourself in the most healthy way. It can be anything from doing some exercise, managing common conditions (like headaches, colds and flu) or living with a long-term health problem, such as asthma or diabetes. As a Self-care Aware Practice we are here to give you the confidence, and information to look after your own health when it is right for you.

This is the best choice to treat very minor illnesses, ailments and injuries. A range of common illnesses, upset stomachs and aches and pains can be treated with a very well stocked medicine cabinet and plenty of rest.

A Home Medicine Chest:

  • Paracetamol
  • Mild laxatives
  • Anti-diarrhoeal medicines
  • Rehydration mixture
  • Indigestion remedy – e.g. Antacids
  • Travel sickness tablets
  • Sun screen SPF 15 or higher
  • Sun burn treatment – e.g. Calamine
  • Tweezers and sharp scissors
  • A thermometer
  • A selection of plasters, non absorbent cotton wool,elastic bandages and dressings

Remember to keep your medicine chest in a secure, locked place, out of the reach of children.   Always read the instructions and use the suggested dose and do not keep any medicines which are past their expiry date.

Lines open Monday-Friday: 8.30am-6.30pm

The surgery is open 8.00am – 7pm from Monday-Thursday and 8.00am – 6.30pm Friday.
