Patient Transport

Travel to Hospital

There are a range of different options for patients to use in order to get to and from hospital. This includes community and voluntary transport, public transport, the healthcare travel costs scheme for those on low income, and the NHS-provided Patient Transport Service (PTS).

Many of these are outlined in the patient information leaflet transport to healthcare (see below). Most people, most of the time, will find that they are able to make use of one or other of these options. It is generally expected that most people will be able to make their own arrangements for getting to and from hospital.
