The computer tear-off slip on your prescription can be used for re-ordering medication.
Repeat prescriptions may be requested from the surgery as follows:
• in person: using the collection box provided (48 hours service)
• by post: enclosing self-addressed stamped envelope (one week service)
• via pharmacy: some pharmacies offer this service
• online: Click Here for more information
If you get the same medicines regularly and always use the same pharmacy, you may be able to get up to a year’s worth of prescriptions without having to return to your GP. This is called Pathfinder Prescriptions and you should ask your GP/Pharmacist for more details.
The Practice uses the Electronic Prescribing System and is able to send your prescription electronically to the chemist of your choice. Let Reception know your nearest chemist to nominate them on your record. We encourage you to use this service.
Please only request medication that you are actually using and need and avoid hoarding. There is considerable wastage of NHS resources every year because of unnecessary requests for more medication. Do discuss your medication at anytime with your pharmacist, nurse or doctor if you are uncertain about whether you do need it.
The current cost of a prescription is £8.40 per item(£16.80 per pair of elastic hosiery). You may be exempt depending on your circumstances. You can buy a prepayment certificate lasting 3 months for £29.10 or lasting 1 year, around £104.00. This is useful if you have a number of regular items and are not exempt from charges as all your prescriptions would be free with the certificate.
For Prescription Exemptions, get more information and apply on-line.
